Farewill Alternatives UK 2026 | Online Will Writing Services Compared on Price

Alternatives to Farewill

We sell one of these, so take the rest as prices rather than as reviews. That is deliberate: we have not used anybody else's editor, so there is nothing here about how any of them work — only what they charge, read off their own pages on 8 September 2026.

WHAT EXIT STATE CHARGES

The offer

  • Free to build — drag beneficiaries onto assets, the maths done for you, plain-English legal wording. Nothing to pay until you unlock it.
  • £79 once to unlock — download, print, witness management, and edits for the rest of your life. Nothing renews.
  • Crypto wallets, NFTs and online accounts are asset types in the editor, not a free-text notes field.
  • Drafted to the Wills Act 1837 for England and Wales. Not Scotland, not Northern Ireland.

What it isn't

  • • Nobody checks your will for you. A solicitor's fee buys that; £79 does not.
  • • No phone line. Support is by email.
  • • Not built for trusts, business succession, property abroad, or leaving out someone who might have a claim.

THE OTHERS, ON PRICE

Farewill

£100 once, plus an optional £10 a year

The £10 covers updates. It is optional, and their will works without it.

Which? Wills

From £99

They advertise a saving of £50 if you take a will and a power of attorney together.

A solicitor

£328 on average, rarely under £200

You are buying advice on your own circumstances, which none of the online services include.

Will Aid, and Free Wills Month

Free, for a donation

Will Aid runs each November; Free Wills Month runs in March and October in parts of England and Wales. A solicitor writes it. Slots go early.

People who used a solicitor to write their will paid £328 on average, and rarely less than £200 (MoneyHelper, May 2025 survey). Prices move. If the date above is more than a few months old, check for yourself before you decide anything on the strength of it.

WHICH ONE IS FOR YOU

If you want to read the whole thing before paying

→ Exit State. Build all of it for nothing. £79 only when you want the copy you can sign.

If you want someone to check it

→ Not us. Farewill's price includes a check by their team; a solicitor's includes advice on your own circumstances. For some people that is worth the difference on its own.

If your estate is complicated

→ A solicitor. Trusts, business assets, tax planning, property abroad, or disinheriting someone who might have a claim under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975. None of the online services, ours included, are built for any of that.

If you would rather not pay at all

→ Wait for November. Will Aid puts you in front of a real solicitor for a donation. Free Wills Month does the same in March and October in parts of England and Wales. Book early.

If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland

→ A solicitor there. Both have their own succession law, and our document is not drafted for either.

Build it first. Decide after.

Free to write. £79 once to unlock and sign. No sales calls, no upsells, nothing that renews.
